Ferro phosphorus

Ferro phosphorus is an alloy made of iron and phosphorus, with phosphorus content typically ranging from 15% to 35%. It is produced by heating phosphate ores, such as apatite, with coke and limestone in a blast furnace or an electric furnace. Ferro phosphorus is primarily used in the production of steel, where it is added to increase the phosphorus content in steel alloys. Phosphorus in steel enhances certain properties, including strength and hardness, especially in higher-strength steel grades. It is also used in the production of specialty steels, such as tool steels and high-strength low-alloy steels, where phosphorus contributes to increased wear resistance and improved machinability. Additionally, ferro phosphorus can be used in the production of phosphor bronze and other alloys.
